What a Week

This week has been FULL of excitement.
Monday consisted of sharing spring break excitement. Michael Jackson, my girl dancer, was SO excited to tell me she did. Here's what she told me, "Guess what I did?! We had a party. We had chicken wangs, BBQ, crab legs, potato salad, and erthang. My mama, both sisters, and Young Buck were there and erthang. We danced and sang. It was so much fun." Who knows what they were celebrating. All I know is she was so happy Monday, and that made my heart happy :)
The first part of standardized testing began this week. Tuesday and Wednesday were filled of reading instructions, waiting, and watching. I tested a small group of kiddos that I thought would benefit from being a small group. I am proud to say, I think they did pretty good. Of course, I couldn't watch what they were marking, but I feel confident they were prepared. Wednesday was the math portion of the test. Michael Jordan got stumped on a question and had a melt down. Not good. He was so distracting to the other kids, and I know how he is. Nothing you can say matters. Thankfully, the kids got to take a break, and he was able to cool down and make up the wasted time.
Tuesday when I left school, the blue skies and 67 degree weather pulled me outside for a walk. I walked around my apartments for 30 minutes. After that, my eyes started swelling, red, and itchy. Allergies... no good. Wednesday morning I woke to puffy, purple, dry, eyes. I have NEVER had allergies before, so I had no idea what to do... I took Benadryl and waited it out. It's much better now...
Wednesday before I left school, I got an email that I could be observed on Thursday or Friday!! AHHHH!!! I freaked out! I may have slacked a little on the lesson plans. I had a lot of work to do. I quickly went through my planner, where I had written out what I was doing, and typed it up. Around 12:00 AM, I finally went to sleep.
Friday, I went to the doctor for my itchy eyes. I went to a UAB clinic in Moody. I arrived at this lovely place 20 minutes before my appointment, hoping they would get me in and out quicker. WRONG!! After 50 minutes, I was still sitting in the waiting room. They finally took me to the room, where I waited another 30 minutes. I had to get to work, so I left before I ever saw the doctor. Needless to say, I won't be going back. Ever.
As I type this, I am sitting in my bed with the windows open, watching Oprah. I am thinking a nap may be next...

Beach Bums

I can't believe my much anticipated beach trip is already over. My plan was to capture everything that happened on camera. Unfortunately, my camera died. The story of my life. So, I will share with you the few pictures I have...enjoy!!

Best Day EVER

You know how much I hate Friday mornings and afternoons. Two words: Bus Duty. I hate it. The kids are loud, disrespectful, and don't know me. But today, there were so many possitive things in my day that made it fantastic. To start the morning off, I broke a fight up between 2 girls. I just don't understand why girls would want to pull each other's hair in front of a lot of people. After the fight, I was a little frustrated, but I walked to my room, and had Chick-Fil-A waiting for me!! We had a breakfast celebration for a friend's birthday. My new love is chicken minis in the morning. They are amazing!! Then, I did a lot of paper work. For lunch, we had strawberry shortcakes to continue the celebration of Jessica's birthday. After lunch, my school had a pep rally to get the kids pumped up for SAT and ARMT testing. This pep rally is the one of the reason I love my school. All the kids were packed into the gym, and the teachers did a great job of entertaining. First, the teachers played a game. Then they did the Cha Cha Slide. There a lot of teachers at my school that are involved in sororities and fraternities. They had a step show. I loved it!! The kids went crazy to see their teachers stepping. One of my good friends is an AKA and she rocked the show!! Then, the high school band and cheerleaders came over. The band was great!! The drum major was my favorite part. Unfortunately, I forgot to take my camera with me. After the pep rally, I had bus duty where I broke up another fight and left to come home. The best part of the day was...knowing that spring break started at 3:05!!
Tomorrow morning I am waking up, going to Guntersville to get my taxes done, then off to the beach with my best friends :) I can't wait!! I also found out this week that I will be teaching the 4 year olds at VBS in Guntersville :) That means I'll have my sweet Annabel!!
I will be updating my blog with pictures from spring break soon...

Weekends

I love weekends. You wanna know why?! Here's a short list...
1. Sleep
2. Fun
3. Friends and Family
4. Fun clothes
5. Travel
6. Out on the town
7. People watching
8. Television
9. Relaxing
10. No set schedule
Most of these things are enjoyed every weekend. This weekend was fantastic! I wish weekends like this lasted longer.
After a much needed and super late Friday night, I woke up Saturday morning with a smile on my face. I was off to beautiful Guntersville for the weekend. I drove with my sunroof down, my cat in the front seat, and my music blaring. When I pulled in my mama's drive-way and hopped out of the car, I was greeted with the smile that only mama's give. We raced off to eat at The Rock House. There, I branched out and tried The Gobble Gobble, with fries of course. It was amazing! After lunch, we stopped at Big Lots and Wal-Mart for me to find bargains. And bargains I did find. We returned home and she finished cooking. Prissy, Jason, and Kaitlyn arrived. I am almost convienced that the sweetest words in the world are "I love you, MeMe." This little girl has her family wrapped around her finger. Mikey joined us for a really good dinner, and then it was time for family talk. I love sitting around my mama's living room, sitting on Weezy's furniture, talking about nothing important. I had to retire to bed early...
But I woke up to Kaitlyn in my face, whispering, "Good morning, MeMe. Get up!!" I had breakfast and was off to church. I love my church. I love the people there. I love when I walk in and people smile, they know me. But the best part of church today was the Ausley family. I ran into Jim, waited on TJ, and then the stampede of sweet children came. Luke and Annabel's hugs made my heart full of happiness. (Luke has the best hugs in the world. He hugs so hard!!) After church, I returned home to my family cooking a feast for lunch. We had lunch and visited some more. I stayed as long as I possibly could before I left. On the way home, Millie cried the whole way.
Now that we are home, Millie is fast asleep in her bed. I think she's glad to be away from Bella and Kaitlyn, her two best friends. :) She has a smile on her face...
Weekends like these make me thankful for what I do have. I have a family that loves with all they have. What more could I ask for?!

Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan has had a terrible week. I just don't get it. When things get better for him academically, his behavior messes up. It kills me. Yesterday, his mom was out of town and the cousin he was staying with forgot to give him his medicine. He walked in my cussing and trying to fight. He was loud and disrespectful. When I got on to him, he ran out of my classroom. He came back in I isolated him. He continued to be loud. I went to talk to him. I told him I needed him to be good and be quiet. I explained that even though he didn't have his medicine, I knew he could behave. He grabbed my face and started rubbing my hair telling me he would do better. He came back to my table. He stayed with me for 3 hours. His teacher sent his work to him and he completed all of his assignments. Right before I sent him back to his room, he sat in my lap, told me loved me, and played with my hair. Everything he had done all morning was wiped away. I love this kid.
Today, he was caught shooting someone a bird. He was suspended and was terribly upset. He wanted me to call his mom and tell her not to whoop him. HA! I explained that I would not do that because he was shooting someone a bird and that wasn't nice. This kid is too much!

Break a Leg...

So, I am so happy to say the black history program is OVER!! YAY!! It was a huge success. There were so many people there and the students were amazing. We have some real talent at my school. I hope these kids can rise above where they are and make something of themselves. After the play we took the kids to Golden Corral. They loved it and I cringed the entire time. Buffet is not my style...
This weekend I am traveling home for my brother's birthday!! I can't believe he's 27...WOW!! I hope he has a great year. I love you Bubba :)
As testing time nears, I am getting very nervous about how my students perform. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they try and do the best they can...
